New Chiropractic Patients

Your first visit and treatment

Following a review of your new patient paperwork, we will begin with a health history review, a comprehensive chiropractic examination of the issue, for which you are seeking treatment for, as well as exploration of any underlying joint restrictions or muscular imbalances which may be involved.  X-rays are not typical but may be necessary, depending on illness or injury.

Your chiropractor will inform you about their findings and what treatments are recommended and available for your current condition(s). With your consent, your chiropractor will likely administer your first treatment; this could be a spinal or extremity manipulation, more commonly known as an “adjustment” and/or some type of soft tissue technique indicated by your condition. On your own at-home therapies may be recommended to speed up recovery, such as but not limited to: kinesiology taping, stretching, foam rolling, strength training and prescriptive exercises.

You and your chiropractor will agree on the next steps for your treatment plan, with the expectation that changes will be made based on how your body does or doesn’t respond. Our goal is to develop a treatment plan and routine that gets and keeps you out of discomfort and in overall good health. You can expect your first visit to take approximately one hour.  New patient intake paperwork is to be filled out before for initial evaluation.

What to wear

For your initial evaluation and treatment, it is best to wear loose-fitting clothing which does not restrict your body’s natural range of motion. We encourage females to wear a sports bra and tank top. Sweatpants or shorts and a t-shirt or tank top work well for males.

Insurance and Payment

Dr. Gil DOES NOT accept any health insurance.  Kraken Sport and Spine is a cash-based mobile house call chiropractic practice.  Mobile chiropractic care is almost never included in health insurance plans.  By accepting cash only this leaves Dr. Gil free to do soft tissue work such as Graston, myofascial release, Cupping, which insurance companies never pay for.  This allows you, the patient, to dictate what your treatment looks like, not an insurance company.

Our patients are encouraged to use pre-tax dollars from a FLEX or Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for their care. If a patient does not have access to these types of accounts, out-of-pocket healthcare expenses are tax deductible. A year-end care expense summary will be supplied at the patient’s request.
